Private Men’s Health Check Ultrasound Scans
Upper Abdominal scan For Men
30-minute appointment. Fee. £120.
This scan is available to men from 16 years of age.
We will perform a detailed scan to look at the size, shape, and condition of the:
- Gall bladder,
- Biliary system
- Pancreas
- Liver
- Both kidneys,
- Spleen
- Aorta
Common examples for having this ultrasound scan are:
- detection of gall stones or polyps
- assessing the liver
- assessing the kidneys for function
We will provide a Sonographer report at the time with a Medical Follow Up Recommendation if necessary. Using the latest cloud technology, Ultrasound Cornwall will send your scan images and report to your mobile phone in seconds.
This secure online service is available with every health care scan we provide. We will also provide a written report to take with you on the day of your scan appointment.
Pre-scan preparation
Need to expose lower part of the abdomen so ideally wear 2-piece garments i.e. trousers and top.
- 8 hours of fasting required.
- No breakfast if morning appointment / no lunch for afternoon appointment. Clear fluids including black tea or coffee are allowed.
- For diabetics maintain food intake but avoid fatty or dairy products.
Maintain normal medication.
All ultrasound scans are optional. You must be at least 16 years old, and you should have no existing medical condition or treatment pending that relates to the scan you are booking. If you are in any doubt about having any type of scan, you should consult your GP.

Women’s Health Scan Premenopausal
30-minute appointment. Fee. £125.
This transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound scan is for women of premenopausal age (those who have not been through the menopause). It will look in detail at the Uterus, Endometrium, Ovaries and the Pelvic area.
This scan can diagnose or exclude uterine abnormalities, fibroids, polyps, ovarian cysts, hydrosalpinx, pyosalpinx and pelvic abscesses or collections.
We will provide a report and are able to offer advice and recommendations. We can send the report and images to your GP if required.
Women’s Health Scan Post-Menopausal
30-minute appointment. Fee. £125.
This transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound scan is for women of post-menopausal age (those whose periods have stopped for over one year). It will look in detail at the Uterus, Endometrium, Ovaries and the Pelvic area.
This scan can diagnose or exclude uterine abnormalities, fibroids, polyps, ovarian cysts, hydrosalpinx, pyosalpinx and pelvic abscesses or collections. It can also be used to monitor existing fibroids, monitor the lining of the womb and for baseline screening for ovarian cancer.
We will provide a report and are able to offer advice and recommendations. We can send the report and images to your GP if required.
Endometrial Thickness Scan
15-minute appointment. Fee. £80.
This transvaginal ultrasound scan is for women who are about to undergo or are undergoing fertility treatment in the UK or abroad. It will determine the thickness of the endometrium which is required before implantation of a fertilised egg.
We will provide a report and are able to offer advice and recommendations. We can send the report and images to your GP if required.
Coil Placement Scan
15-minute appointment. Fee. £80.
This transvaginal ultrasound scan is for women who want to check the position of their Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (coil). It will confirm the presence of the coil and its location.
We will provide a report and are able to offer advice and recommendations. We can send the report and images to your GP if required.
Fertility Scan
30-minute appointment. Fee. £125.
This transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound scan is for women of childbearing age. It will look in detail at the Uterus, Endometrium, Ovaries and Pelvic area.
This scan will evaluate the well being of the uterus prior to conception and will estimate the time of ovulation. As well as being able to diagnose or exclude uterine abnormalities, fibroids, polyps, ovarian cysts, hydrosalpinx, pyosalpinx and pelvic abscesses or collections.
Measuring follicles and endometrial thickness prior to private IVF treatment in the UK or abroad
We will provide a report and are able to offer advice and recommendations. We can send the report and images to your GP if required.

Abdominal Aorta scan
15-minute appointment.
Fee. £75.
The purpose of the Abdominal Aorta Scan is to examine the size, shape and condition of the:
- aorta
- iliac arteries
- should an aneurysm be identified, both kidneys and renal arteries will also be evaluated.
Scrotal/testicular scan (testicular)
15-minute appointment.
Fee. £75.
This scan assesses the following scrotal structures for abnormalities:
- testes
- epididymis (tube connected to the testis)
- spermatic cord
Renal/kidney scan
15-minute appointment.
Fee. £75.
This scan assesses the size, shape and condition of both kidneys and the bladder. This includes checking for stones, lesions or evidence of kidney inflammation.
Liver scan
15-minute appointment.
Fee. £75.
This scan provides a detailed assessment of the size, shape, outline, echotexture and general condition of the liver.
Prostate scan
15-minute appointment.
Fee. £75.
This scan assesses the volume of the prostate gland and also assesses the urinary bladder.
Kidneys, bladder and prostate scan
30-minute appointment.
Fee. £120.
This scan provides a detailed assessment of the following structures:
- bladder (when full and immediately after emptying).
- both kidneys and
- prostate gland.
